Intro： The Man from the Deep RiverA photographer accidentally kills a man in self-defense and is captured by a local tribe while retreating into the jungles of an Asian country. They imprison him, forcing him into slavery, but eventually accept him after he marries the chief’s daughter. Throughout the film, I never felt like this was a horror movie. It felt more like a drama, similar to 'A Man Called Horse,' which I prefer. Ivan Rasimov plays the photographer quite well, but Me Me Lai as the chief's daughter is truly memorable. I've been a fan of Me Me Lai since her outstanding performance in 'Cannibal Holocaust,' but her acting has never received recognition because she hardly speaks in the film. She is still very talented and charismatic. The only thing that could classify 'Deep River' as a horror film is the large amount of real animal cruelty, but even then, the execution is poor.
