The flower girl Eliza Doolittle is beautiful, smart, and well-behaved, but comes from humble beginnings and a poor family. She sells flowers on the street every day to earn some money to help her family. One day, Eliza's coarse voice catches the attention of linguist Professor Higgins, who boasts that with his training, the flower girl could become a lady. Eliza sees this as an opportunity and approaches the professor to request his training. Higgins's friend Pickering bets him that if Eliza can attend a garden party hosted by the ambassador in six months as a lady without being recognized, he will cover all experimental costs and Eliza's tuition. This stirs Higgins's competitive spirit, and he gladly accepts the challenge. He starts teaching her from the basics of phonetics. Higgins is an energetic and scientific scholar who immerses himself in everything he finds interesting. He is straightforward, with no malice at all, but he treats Eliza with a child-like disregard for her feelings and trains her rigorously. One time, while attending a family gathering with Eliza, young gentleman Freddy is deeply impressed by her beauty and eloquence, falling head over heels for her, completely unable to recognize her as the dirty flower girl from the rain. Higgins, in his forties and unmarried, has never fancied young women, yet he finds himself increasingly reliant on Eliza for his daily life, as she manages his clothes, food, and social engagements. However, Eliza is frustrated by Higgins's coarse and harsh temperament. He teaches her refined language, but never treats her with refinement. Six months later, Higgins confidently takes Eliza and Pickering to a reception hosted by the Greek ambassador. Eliza attends as Colonel Pickering's adopted daughter, making every effort to appear poised and charming. When she presents herself, conversations stop as people admire her captivating demeanor. Her social skills are polished and appropriately executed, while Higgins’s first pupil, Nepomuk, is thoroughly bewildered by Eliza and fails dismally, marking Higgins’s success. However, upon returning home, Higgins ignores the exhausted Eliza, only focused on celebrating their successful bet with friends. Eliza feels insulted and leaves Higgins’s house in anger. At the door, she encounters love-struck Freddy, who has been wandering beneath her window every night, silently watching over her, moving Eliza with his devotion. Despite Higgins's volatile demeanor, he sincerely cares for Eliza, and after she storms out in a fit of anger, he becomes distressed. He goes to his mother’s house to find her, but they end up in an argument. Eliza declares her intention to marry Freddy, which astonishes and angers Higgins, leading him to leave in fury. However, on his way home, he cannot help but think of Eliza. Alone at home, listening to her old recordings, Eliza returns! She still loves Higgins!
