A spacecraft that departed from the 20th century, after 6 months of near-light-speed travel, experienced the equivalent of seven hundred years. After setting the ship to automatic pilot, Captain Taylor (played by Charlton Heston) ultimately crashes on a strange planet in the year 3978. Taylor and two surviving crew members discover that the planet's environment is similar to Earth’s, and there are even humans without language skills who live by foraging.
