In the early 1950s, in the remote Jingpo village of Yunnan. The villagers, having been oppressed and deceived by feudal village chiefs and bandits throughout history, held deep prejudice and hostility towards the Han people. To change the backward lifestyle of the border people and transform their ideological concepts, the higher authorities sent a border defense battalion to station in the village and proposed a plan to build a sluice and irrigate the fields for the benefit of the villagers. Once the troops arrived, the spy Gedang (played by Li Renlin) incited the son of the Meipu Mountain chief (played by Tian Lie), Duolong (played by Da Qi), to hinder the implementation of the plan. They framed Dr. Li (played by Liu Huiming), who was treating children, and after failing to kill him, they attempted again. When Duolong learned that his son was saved by Dr. Li, he felt deeply ashamed and regretted falling for Gedang's scheme.
