The rules of the show are simple - kill or be killed. Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence), whose sister is unfortunately chosen on the "reaping day" in District 12, volunteers to take her sister's place to protect her. She must separate from her love Gale Hawthorne (played by Liam Hemsworth) and enter the game with Peeta Mellark (played by Josh Hutcherson), who is also chosen as a tribute from District 12.
