The original work and screenplay were written by James S. Tamiya, who previously wrote 'The One-Eyed Dragon Masamune.' The series features a narrative role played by Edo Mamoru, who portrays Chikamatsu Monzaemon, providing commentary on historical facts. This narrative technique was also used in the 2000 installment 'Aoi Tokugawa Sandai.' The cast of this drama largely consists of top acting talent in Japan, making it very appealing.
