In Tel Aviv in 1989, young university student Boaz (played by Yoav Reuveni) has just completed his military service and is studying linguistics at university, where he has a beautiful girlfriend named Noa (played by Yehuda Nahari). Every day, he checks his mailbox for news about scholarships, but one day he finds an anonymous letter inside: "Dear Boaz, please don’t ask me who I am or how I know you. I think about you constantly, even though we are both men. Writing this letter to you secretly at my desk makes me feel ashamed, but I truly lack the courage for anything more..." Boaz assumes it is a prank and crumples the letter, but at the moment of reading it, he inexplicably blushes and his heart races. More anonymous love letters disturb his inner peace. Angrily, he wants to find out who this admirer is, prompting him to reflect on his past and his military service. With a growing number of visits and inquiries, he is astonished to discover that he harbors the same desires deep within himself... "Snail in the Rain" is the first feature film by Israeli director Yariv Mozer, adapted from the 1995 Hebrew novel "The Garden of Dead Trees," written by Yossi Avni-Levy, who served as Israel's ambassador to the former Yugoslavia. The film was nominated for the Golden Zenith Award at the 37th Montreal World Film Festival.
