Padmé Amidala (played by Natalie Portman), after her term as queen of Naboo, arrives on Coruscant as a senator, determined to cast a crucial vote for the establishment of a Republic army. Obi-Wan Kenobi (played by Ewan McGregor) is assigned to protect Amidala, accompanied by a now-grown Anakin Skywalker (played by Hayden Christensen). During their escape back to Naboo, Anakin and Amidala develop feelings for each other and decide to go to Tatooine to seek Anakin's mother.
