During the Anti-Japanese War, General Yang Jingyu, commander of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army, was heavily surrounded by Japanese troops. General Yang ordered the main force to break through while he himself stayed on the mountain with only three soldiers—Chang Huaizhong, Tang Fulu, and Zhu Ershi—to attract the enemy's heavy forces. The defection of the 29th Army's commander, Cheng Bin, resulted in heavy losses for our breakout troops, causing General Yang immense sorrow. Cheng Bin, when visiting home, was scolded by his mother, and Cheng’s wife angrily executed him. Chang Huaizhong's lover, Zhou Fenglan, climbed the mountain to deliver food to the general and reunited with Chang Huaizhong. The Japanese enticed General Yang with high-ranking positions and riches but were met with scorn.
