He insists on casting the French movie star Jean-Pierre Léaud, who has long been admired but rumored to have poor mental health, to play King Herod who beheads Saint John the Baptist. Due to concerns about box office performance, this low-budget production boldly hires an international model to play Salome. Just as filming begins, complications arise. A deer mysteriously disappears, King Herod breaks his nose, and during a passionate encounter in the Tuileries Garden, director Xiao Kang receives a call informing him of his mother's passing, prompting the female producer to fly to Taipei for the funeral. In the gloomy old apartment, the mother’s ghost refuses to leave. All the crew find themselves in a long wait. Finally, the film is set to resume shooting, with the lines between on-screen and off-screen roles beginning to blur. A group of stars in glamorous Salome costumes moves through the halls, dark rooms, and ancient paths of the Louvre, each searching for the Salome within themselves.
