"The Biedermann Comet" is rushing towards Earth, delivering a deadly blow to humanity. Authorities take emergency action and develop an optimal plan—astronaut Tanner (played by Robert Duvall) pilots the spaceship 'Messiah' to the comet, placing a pre-prepared nuclear bomb on it to detonate and shatter it or change its trajectory. Tanner bravely completes the mission, but soon discovers it did not have the desired effect. The comet breaks into a large and a small piece, both approaching Earth. The authorities quickly implement the final action, using the 'Noah's Ark' plan to save some species on Earth, including humans. This is a secret underground refuge where only a few people can avoid the cataclysm and wait to rebuild the world after the disaster passes. The smaller piece of the comet has already collided with Earth, causing landslides and a catastrophic scene. Meanwhile, the larger comet following closely will bring destruction to the Earth far beyond what anyone could imagine, as humanity races against time.
