Nineteen-year-old Adam (played by Jack O’Connell) is considered the soul of the useless and incompetent generation. His mother has hooked up with the gang leader Peter (played by Peter Mullan), and the useless unemployed Adam ends up doing some dirty work for his stepfather. However, life in the underworld is not easy for him; Adam crashes Peter's car, enraging his stepfather. Out of desperation, Peter assigns Adam a new job: to assist the cold-hearted lone killer Roy (played by Tim Roth) as his driver. Faced with this incompetent 'gangster heir' who is bad at everything, including looking after himself, killing, and dismemberment, Roy completely loses his patience. During their journey, the two men from different backgrounds seem to grow closer, but Adam remains unaware of Roy's secret mission, and their fates begin to unfold in unpredictable ways...
