Deng's subordinate, Hu Li (played by Zhang Ziyi), and others confront Lee and Carter one after another. Soon, Lee is barred from participating in the case by the Americans, and the Hong Kong police station suffers a bombing attack as well. Separated, Lee and Carter end up on Deng's yacht, where they learn that the triad has internal conflicts. Just as they realize this, Hu Li shoots Deng in the sea... With clues temporarily lost, the two rush to Los Angeles, where they discover Hu Li's whereabouts and the American undercover agent at the home of the local tycoon, Rong Shixun. It turns out that Deng, Hu, and others have been involved in a large counterfeit money operation. Lee and Carter decide to retrieve the printing plate from Hu Li.
