Although Earl (played by Martin Lawrence) is strong and muscular, his irritable personality and simple mind lead him further away from his goal of being a good police officer. After causing another major incident, he becomes a security guard. During a traffic stop, Earl meets officer Hank (played by Steve Zahn), and their vastly different temperaments lead to a fierce fight over a trivial matter, which results in Hank losing his job due to Earl's antics and also becoming a security guard. Earl never expected that his actions would result in Hank becoming his colleague. They not only work in the same building but are also assigned to be partners, leading to a life filled with arguments. By chance, Earl and Hank discover a major smuggling ring involving high-ranking police officials. Driven by their goodness and sense of justice, the two decide to defy their superiors' pressure and vow to uncover the truth, all while threats and dangers continuously approach them.
