The story takes place in Germany in 1936, the year the 11th Olympic Games were held in Berlin. Georges (played by Jean Paul Belmondo) is a boxing coach from France. Georges had once served as a pilot during World War I, where, amid intense combat, he became friends with a German pilot named Gant (played by Frank Hoffmann), forming a genuine friendship between them. By chance, Georges and Gant encounter a Jewish boy, and the boy's tragic situation deeply affects both men.
