In 1979, the Vatican recognized that a baby girl born in New York was connected to the demon Satan. Twenty years later, on December 28, just three days before the end of the century, Satan (played by Gabriel Byrne) returns to Earth in the form of a human banker. Jerry (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger), a former police officer who has lost his wife and daughter, and his security team are hired to protect this disguised devil. Soon, a priest attempts to assassinate Satan but fails, and before he dies, he gives a warning to Brick. Following the priest's clues, Brick and his partner find a woman named Christine (played by Robin Tunney), learning she is the one destined to join with Satan.
