A highly skilled martial arts film. The director of this film, Shi Tian, is a very ambitious person, having directed his first movie, 'The Renunciant,' at the age of 23. This film, 'The Lustful Monk,' differs from traditional martial arts films as Shi Tian combines martial arts with eroticism to attract viewers. Shi Tian plays the role of an elderly gatekeeper at a brothel. The story begins with an erotic painting; Da Zhi (played by Ren Shi Guan) takes the blame for his senior brother and is expelled from the sect. The monk meets a street rogue (played by Huang Shu Tang), and due to his naivety, he is betrayed and sold to villains portrayed by Feng Ke An and Gao Xiong. The rogue is killed, and upon learning the truth, the monk punishes the villains and opens a martial arts school to teach others. In the end, the monk honors his master, but Ming Zhi, who has just become the abbot, mistakenly believes that he must fight for his position, resulting in a violent confrontation. Eventually, Ming Zhi realizes the boundless nature of the Buddha's teachings and the principle of turning back to find salvation, leading him to self-immolation. Afterward, Shi Tian's career progressed smoothly, peaking in 1980 when he married the Taiwanese art film actress Liu Qin Yu, whom I really like. That same year, he co-founded the Fighting Film Company, which later became famously known as Hsin Yi City.
