The Ninth Prince (played by Ma Jun) has suffered from pollen allergy for many years. One day, someone gifts him a rare treasure, the Cooling Pearl, which immediately alleviates all his ailments. However, the good times don’t last long, as this extraordinary gem mysteriously disappears from the heavily guarded prince's residence. This is like digging a hole in the ground under the Tai Sui deity, and the furious Ninth Prince nearly goes mad. His wife, Yan Wuhong (played by Zhou Qing), invites the natural-born Daoist (played by Wei Li) to perform a divination, concluding that the culprits belong to the powerful families of Liu and Zhao in the capital. That very night, the authorities stormed and executed the Liu and Zhao family members, but the underage sons of both families escaped the massacre. Years later, tormented by his pollen allergy and continuous assassin attacks, the elderly Ninth Prince lives in an underground palace. Liu family descendant Liu Yanyang (played by Liu Yijun), after failing to assassinate someone, finds herself in danger but is rescued by Zhao family's descendant Zhao Biao (played by Zhao Biaotou). One day, Yan Wuhong arranges a horse riding outing for the prince to the suburbs, and upon hearing the news, Liu and Zhao plan to seek revenge as planned.
