The new work "Highlander The Search for Vengeance" by Japanese animation director Yoshitaka Kawajiri, famous for "Demon City Shinjuku", "Ninja Scroll", and "Vampire Hunter D", is finally set to meet audiences after nearly two years of production. However, unlike the previously announced theatrical release, this over 80-minute long animation will be directly released on DVD in the United States on June 5, in both standard and special editions. On March 14, the official website for the animation released a new 1.5-minute long trailer, showcasing its signature sharp style with stunning visuals. The fifth film in the series, "Highlander The Source", is also set to be released by Lionsgate in North America this September. This animated version, premiering in June, represents a new collaboration between the producers of the "Highlander" series and a master of Japanese animation. The animation is co-produced by MADHOUSE, a Japanese animation company that has a long-standing collaboration with Kawajiri, and MANGA, a company specializing in the distribution of Japanese animation in the U.S. Similar to "Vampire Hunter D", it will first be released in the U.S. with an English dubbed version, followed by a Japanese dubbed version later, though it is uncertain whether it will be theatrically released in Japan.
