The story takes place in 1986 along the Seine River in France, where a young photographer named Jean (played by Cyril Collard) learns that he has contracted AIDS, which plunges him into deep depression. Despite Jean confessing that he is attracted to men, Laura insists that she doesn't mind. When Laura discovers Sami's existence, her profound love for Jean shatters her, and Sami also leaves Jean. This terrible situation causes Jean to spiral downwards, with only alcohol and drugs providing him with a semblance of comfort, and soon, Jean's life comes to an end.
