As one of the oldest species on Earth, the massive humpback whale has been frolicking in the ocean for millions of years, producing beautiful melodies. However, just like the ocean where they live, we know very little about these deep-sea spirits. Meryl Streep produced 'Ocean Voyager' for Animal Planet, which provides us with an intimate perspective, allowing us to glimpse how humpback whale mother teaches her baby son KELL survival skills in the ocean. This episode features a newborn humpback whale KELL and his forty-ton mother MARA, showcasing the greatness of motherhood and nurturing instinct. The documentary begins with Mara giving birth and follows the pair for a year, covering over 4,000 miles. During this long journey, viewers will accompany them as they travel through French Polynesia, Hawaii, Alaska, Newfoundland, Bay of Fundy, and Gulf of Maine, avoiding fierce predators and human hunters. Yet, these elusive spirits appear so beautiful in front of the camera. The documentary also captures many precious moments, with the mother resting while the baby whale plays on the ocean floor, the mother nursing and milk spraying into the water, and KELL weaving under his mother’s massive fins. Furthermore, humpback whales have a distinctive feature - their songs. Using specially designed underwater microphones, we hear their melodies performed in the South Pacific and French Polynesia, as well as calls of the group searching for food in Alaska. This magnificent film is intertwined with the songs of humpback whales and the soundtrack composed by Grant McLachlan.
