In a calm seaside city, the silent and lonely girl Kayo Tomishima (played by Mihoko Ichikawa) is a senior student at the local girls' high school. Due to her personality, she is isolated by her classmates and immerses herself daily in feelings of emptiness and solitude, unsure of where her future lies. Perhaps because of their similar circumstances, classmate Asami Endo (played by Manami Konishi) catches Kayo's attention. Asami took a year off in her second year of high school; she seems to exist apart from the world, both unaccepted by those around her and indifferent to their opinions. Out of curiosity, Kayo slowly enters Asami's world. Asami wholeheartedly accepts this lonely friend, and her love for paintings, music, and the azure sea opens a door to a realm of imagination for Kayo. The friendship between the two pure girls deepens continuously, each occupying an important place in the other’s heart... This film is adapted from the manga of the same name by Kiriko Nananan and won the Best Actress Silver St. George Award (Mihoko Ichikawa) at the 2002 Moscow International Film Festival.
