According to Spanish reports quoting del Castillo's personal assistant, the production is likely to take place in San Diego. "This has been quite a roller coaster; there’s no doubt this is a strange turn of events," said Netflix's Chief Content Officer Sarandos, during the height of public opinion on the matter in January, when the company reaffirmed that the show would be filmed this year (the series was booked in the summer of 2015, long before del Castillo's involvement in the El Chapo incident was revealed). "The situation is complex, but so far everything is going well," he stated. In the 20-episode series "Ingobernable," Del Castillo plays Irene Urzua, the wife of the Mexican president.
