Bob Wilton (played by Ewan McGregor) is a failed American journalist who, in desperation, travels to the Middle East, trying to find a way to sneak into Iraq for war coverage in hopes of winning back his ex-wife's heart. In Kuwait, Bob meets the private contractor Lynn Cassidy (played by George Clooney), whom he had heard about in a previous interview, and begs him to take him across the border. Lynn was once a special forces soldier in the U.S. Army's 'Earth Spirit Team,' seeking 'Jedi powers' through the unconventional training methods of Vietnam War veteran hippie Bill Django (played by Jess Bridges) in order to overcome enemies with mental prowess, until the arrival of soldier Larry Hopper (played by Kevin Spacey) changed the training approach of the 'Earth Spirit Team.' Bob follows Lynn in Iraq as he encounters a series of absurd accidents and events; does Lynn really have 'Jedi powers'?
