Ned (played by Paul Rudd) is a 'farmer' living in the city. One day, out of sympathy, he sold some drugs to a police officer at the market, but ended up getting arrested for drug dealing. As a result, Ned's girlfriend kicked him out of their home, and he had no choice but to turn to his sisters for support. He has three sisters: Miranda (played by Elizabeth Banks), an aspiring journalist; Natalie (played by Zooey Deschanel), a bisexual woman who is constantly in disputes with her girlfriend Cindy (played by Rashida Jones); and Liz (played by Emily Mortimer), who is married to a documentary filmmaker and whose marriage is on shaky ground. No matter which sister's house Ned stays at, he inevitably ends up having conflicts with them, and to make matters worse, each sister has her own set of troubles. Ultimately, Ned faces the risk of becoming homeless. What should Ned do to save his life and, 'by the way,' rescue his three sisters?
