A pair of mermaid sisters, Silver and Gold, are searching for their dream paradise on land. The glamorous nightlife filled with singing and dancing captivates the two sisters. The female lead singer of a three-member band adopts them, taking the sisters to experience the splendors of the human world, allowing them to shine on stage, and their singing is recognized by the audience. Throughout their interactions with humans, the sisters gradually learn about the goodness and evil of humanity. Innocent Silver falls in love with the handsome bassist in the band, and they fall into a passionate romance; however, the bassist wishes for Silver to become a real girl. Silver is willing to give up everything for her lover, even if changing her tail for legs means losing her wonderful voice. Yet their relationship cannot escape the temptations of the outside world; the bassist cheats and intends to marry someone else. Silver must eat her betraying lover before dawn on the night of the wedding, or she will turn into foam before the next sunrise. However, Silver cannot bring herself to do it, and in the end, she turns into foam with a smile in her lover's embrace. Gold, having lost her sister, loses her rationality again and bites the bassist to death, returning to the sea in disappointment.
