In the bustling streets of Hong Kong, an armored car is hijacked by notorious criminal Cao Nan (played by Hu Jun). Senior Inspector Lue Mingzhe (played by Andy Lau) leads a team to the scene, where they engage in a fierce shootout with Cao Nan's gang. Just as the situation becomes dire, a car suddenly appears and disrupts the battle. Cao Nan seizes the opportunity to escape, while the car's owner, Tao Chengbang (played by Lam Ka-Tung), is taken in by the police. Tao and Mingzhe are old classmates, and Tao has just been released from prison, having mingled with gangsters. Mingzhe and Chengbang's girlfriend Yan Bing (played by Yao Chen) are adamant that he has nothing to do with Cao Nan, while the brazen Cao Nan taunts the police repeatedly.
