Mindy Quinn is about to turn fifty, and she has always loved celebrating her birthday. Now, she is experiencing a midlife crisis. As a close friend, she has accepted informal free counseling from psychologist Nathalie. She has always had a clear plan for her life, hoping to become a doctor or marry a doctor so that a stable, organized, and manageable life could continue. However, two years ago, those plans began to shatter. Her doctor husband, Marc Quinn, left her for another woman after twenty-three years of marriage. After the breakup, Marc returns, hiding the fact that he hopes to reconcile and reconnects with his first love, high school sweetheart Sam Berman, who happens to be Emily's uncle, which has an even greater impact on Mindy. This reunion is not without issues, as despite both seeming to love each other, Mindy and Sam are aware that this is a breakup, leading to some hostility between them.
