Katō Tōhei (played by Takuya Kimura), who works at an advertising company, has a free and easy-going personality. He always struggles to communicate with his colleagues in the creative department and, in a fit of anger, is transferred to the sales department, where he has to bow and scrape to clients. It turns out to be a bad day for him. For sales assistant Uesugi Riko (played by Matsutouko), it is also a gloomy day as she has just been dumped by her boyfriend. They encounter each other at a bus stop, spend the night together singing karaoke and in the hotel, though nothing actually happened. The next day, Tōhei meets Riko again in the sales department, discovering they are now colleagues, and the lively and adorable Riko is well-liked by her coworkers. Tōhei has been unable to forget his high school girlfriend, Mizuhara Sanae (played by Junan Risa), and surprisingly runs into her again. Tōhei is overjoyed, while the married Sanae tries hard to mask the issues in her marriage, but cannot stop herself from getting closer to Tōhei. Meanwhile, Riko has secretly fallen for Tōhei and has done many things for him. Tōhei feels particularly happy when he is with Riko. When Riko asks Tōhei for a committed relationship, he hesitates. Riko buys Tōhei's favorite book and tells Sanae that she wants to personally give it to him, but Sanae uses her methods to keep Tōhei by her side, making him miss their date. By the time Tōhei arrives at the meeting place, Riko is already gone. However, the big screen shows Riko's heartfelt confession. Tōhei is deeply moved by Riko and confesses to her in the same way. The two begin a sweet romance, but Tōhei, accustomed to his carefree lifestyle, is unsure if he can settle down. Riko feels disheartened by this and resolutely resigns, returning to her hometown while waiting for Tōhei to make his final decision.
