In the late Eastern Han period, the government was corrupt, and the people were struggling to survive. The leader of the Way of Peace, Zhang Jiao, organized and led the "Yellow Turban Rebellion." The Han dynasty was in imminent danger. Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei from Zhuoxian vowed to revive the Han dynasty, forming a brotherhood in the garden and recruiting talented individuals to organize an army. The ambitious governor of Xiliang, Dong Zhuo, seized the opportunity to create chaos, leading a large army into the capital, taking Lü Bu as his adopted son, becoming powerful in the court, deposing the young emperor, and establishing the King of Chenliu as Emperor Xian, thus controlling the emperor to command the feudal lords. Cao Cao's assassination attempt on Dong Zhuo failed, and he fled the capital to join forces with various warlords to fight against Dong. Liu Bei participated in this campaign, where the three sworn brothers fought Lü Bu three times at Hulao Pass. The Minister Wang Yun admired Lü Bu's bravery and combat skills. After Cao Cao eliminated Dong Zhuo and Lü Bu, he proclaimed himself Prime Minister and controlled the court. Emperor Xian wrote a blood edict, handed to Liu Bei by Dong Cheng, stating that if Liu Bei could eliminate treachery and restore the Han dynasty, he could correct the court’s conduct. Although Liu Bei was highly favored by Cao Cao, he had lingering doubts about Cao Cao's treachery, suspicion, and fickleness, and he desired to escape the capital. He requested troops from Cao Cao to go to Xu Province to capture Yuan Shao. Just as Liu Bei set out, Cao Cao suddenly changed his mind and secretly ordered Che Zhou to ambush Liu Bei, but Che Zhou was killed by Guan Yu during the ambush. Furious, Cao Cao led a 200,000-strong army to march on Xu Province. Liu Bei faced defeat and sought refuge with Yuan Shao. Cao Cao attacked Xiapi, and Guan Yu was trapped at Tushan. To protect Liu Bei's family and ensure future plans, Guan Yu reluctantly submitted to Cao Cao. At Baima Slope, Guan Yu killed Yan Liang and Wen Chou, earning military merits for Cao Cao. Cao Cao reported this to Emperor Xian, who conferred the title of Han Shouting Marquis upon Guan Yu. Upon learning that Liu Bei was with Yuan Shao, Guan Yu immediately used his seal to protect Liu Bei’s two sisters-in-law, leaving Xuchang and cutting through five passes and slaying six generals. Ultimately, the three brothers were reunited in the ancient city to strategize the establishment of the Shu kingdom.
