Swedish intelligence officer Carl Hamilton (played by Mikael Persbrandt) infiltrates an international crime syndicate that has stolen advanced Swedish GPS-guided missiles. This gang of renegade mercenaries has kidnapped a Swedish weapon technology expert and received orders from an unidentified client organization to prepare for a deadly attack. Although Hamilton's identity is exposed and he escapes the gang's pursuit, both the missile and the expert have gone missing. Soon, one of the stolen weapons appears in a terrorist attack in Somalia, resulting in the assassination of a pacifist politician. Given the Prime Minister's commitments, the government agrees to hire a private security company to carry out the rescue mission, with Hamilton accompanying them as an observer for the Swedish government.
