David (played by Nicolas Cage) is a weather forecaster, but he lacks the professional knowledge to apply to his job. When the forecast does not meet expectations, viewers often throw trash at him in the streets. David feels bleak about his life, and his divorce from his wife (played by Hope Davis) is another blow to him. Now he has the opportunity to go to New York to work again, but he must face the strained relationship with his children.
