The story takes place in Los Angeles, USA, where Macusick (played by Mel Gibson) is a drug smuggler. However, he is tired of living on the edge and promises his friend Leonard (played by Arye Gross) that he will do one last big job and then retire for good. Freysia (played by Kurt Russell) appears to be Macusick's friend but is actually an undercover narcotics officer, who has been secretly investigating Macusick in hopes of finding evidence of his crimes. During this process, both men fall in love with the beautiful and sexy restaurant owner, Valenna (played by Michelle Pfeiffer). News of this big deal quickly leaks out, and the notorious Mexican Carlos (played by Raul Julia) hears about it and wants to get in on the action.
