In the early days of the resistance war, in a place in Northeast China, primary school teacher Leng Yun (played by Zhang Kaili) refuses to be a puppet under the rule of the puppet Manchukuo regime. She resolutely parts ways with her husband, who is collaborating with the regime, and joins the Anti-Japanese Volunteer Army.
