Psychiatric expert Dr. Ernst Wagner (played by Jerzy Nowak) opened a sea chart sent to him by the deceased Franciszek Adamczyk, leading his wife Greta (played by Ewa Dałkowska) to lose her composure, sweating profusely as if afflicted by a terminal illness; the alcoholic inspector Komisarz Selin (played by Władysław Kowalski) woke up on a resort beach; the elegant middle-aged man Andrzej Gaszewski (played by Jerzy Zelnik) found himself completely unaware after boarding a train from Warsaw, arriving at the Nazi-enthusiastic Sopot; and the timid, shy elementary school teacher Luiza Skubiejska (played by Grażyna Szapołowska) wandered into a museum display room and "took" a valuable 19th-century dress without knowing why; she then collided on the beach with the "hunchback" Georg Netz (played by Jerzy Stuhr), who had arrived from Berlin, as if in a daze...
