The masses in various regions, unable to endure the brutal exploitation of the Qing Dynasty and the rampant plundering by foreign invaders, organized themselves for brave and tenacious resistance. Amid these successive waves of revolution, the "God Worshipping Society" led by Hong Xiuquan officially announced the uprising on January 11, 1851, in Jintian Village, Guiping County, Guangxi, and established the state name as Taiping Tianguo (Heavenly Kingdom of Great Peace).
