Intro： The Lover of the Sorrowful EarthThe story takes place in Wales in 1911. Gyno (played by Nia Roberts) is born into a poor mining family, where generations have relied on physical labor for meager wages. By chance, Gyno encounters a man named Solomon (played by Ioan Gruffudd), whose family runs a pawn shop, clearly placing him in a different social class than Gyno. Gyno conceals her true background and begins a relationship with Solomon, and as time passes, their love deepens. Gyno becomes pregnant with Solomon's child, which leads them to decide to elope. However, on the day they had arranged to leave, Gyno's brother finds Solomon and vows to teach him a lesson for his sister.
