Intro： When will the bright moon appear?The story takes place in Hong Kong in the 1940s, where a young girl named Fang Lan (played by Zhou Xun) lives a life of mutual dependence with her mother (played by Yip Tak Sin). They rent out the second floor of their home to the writer Mao Dun (played by Guo Tao) and his wife Kong De Zhi (played by Jiang Wenli). Fang Lan is deeply passionate about Mao Dun's writing, feeling the fervent revolutionary enthusiasm and surging national spirit within it; however, she knows very little about the turbulent current events and tense political atmosphere surrounding her. Liu Jin Jin (played by Peng Yu Yan), a young progressive with strong capabilities, is tasked by an organization to escort a group of important cultural figures stranded in Hong Kong back to the mainland, and the Mao Dun family is on that list. In a twist of fate, Fang Lan gets caught up in this dangerous mission, and with Liu Jin Jin's suggestion and encouragement, she joins the revolutionary ranks, drawing both mother and daughter into the sweeping tide of history.
