Intro： The prince is on duty.The story takes place during the Ming Dynasty, where the empress earns the emperor's deep favor and gives birth to a dragon child. The grand tutor Pang Fei (played by Huang Daliang) fears that his sister, the favored concubine, will lose her status and sets a plot to swap the prince with a cat, resulting in the empress being sent to the cold palace and the prince going missing. Decades pass in the blink of an eye. During an imperial examination, Liu Jing (played by He Guilin)'s adoptive son Liu Sheng (played by Lu Songxian) was about to become the top scholar, but was replaced by Pang Fei's adoptive son Yuan Dan (played by He Baosheng), which greatly angers Liu Sheng. Later, Liu Sheng unintentionally encounters the young maiden Duan Yu (played by Jiang Qinqin), and they develop feelings for each other through a series of misunderstandings. Meanwhile, Duan Yu's father gets falsely accused and imprisoned while delivering a luminous pearl, prompting Duan Yu to disguise herself as a man to infiltrate the government in hopes of uncovering the truth. In the government office, Duan Yu reunites with Liu Sheng, but he does not recognize that the energetic young man before him is his beloved.
