Intro: Once Upon a Time in AmericaIn 1933, New York gangster Noodles (played by Robert De Niro) was hunted down after he ratted out to Captain Halloran (played by Bruce Dern), leading to the deaths of three accomplices. Before going on the run, he opened the suitcase that held the gang's funds, only to find it filled with newspapers. In 1968, Noodles, who had changed his name, received a letter from the synagogue notifying him of the relocation of a friend's burial. Noodles contacted the rabbi and learned that the letter had been sent eight months earlier and that his three accomplices had been moved to a luxury cemetery. Noodles returned to New York to catch up with his old friend Max (played by Larry Rapp) to gather information, but he came up empty. In the conversation, Noodles asked about Max's sister Deborah (played by Elizabeth McGovern), discovering that she had become a famous actress. In their youth, they had mutual feelings, but Deborah (played by Jennifer Connelly) had her ambitions and pragmatically kept street thug Noodles (played by Scott Tiler) at a distance. Noodles found a key in the cemetery and used it to open the storage locker where he had hidden the suitcase back then. This time, the suitcase was full of hundred-dollar bills, along with a note that read 'advance for the next job'...
