One time, they rob a "Sky's Man" company mail truck, attracting the sheriff and local residents in pursuit. Yet, they continue their antics, taking a schoolteacher named Etta (played by Katharine Ross) hostage, enjoying their carefree and happy life. After robbing the "Sky's Man" mail truck again, they are pursued by a team of mounted police, who launch a meticulous search, forcing Butch and the Sundance Kid to escape. After jumping off a cliff to flee, they find Etta and discuss going to Bolivia to make a living. In a foreign country, they attempt to turn over a new leaf, but ultimately feel that this life is not for them, leading them to return to their old ways. In a fit of anger, Etta leaves them and returns to America. They are accidentally exposed in a small town and become heavily surrounded by pursuing police. With blocks in front and pursuers behind, will Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid be able to rise from the ashes amidst the relentless siege?
