The fund manager of the securities company, Stone Yu (played by Gong Yoo), is polished and capable, but also a self-serving person who prioritizes profit over loyalty. On Soo-An's birthday, Stone Yu takes time to accompany his daughter aboard the express train to Busan. Meanwhile, suspicious incidents of violence are erupting throughout the city. The government’s attempts to cover up the facts cannot hide the rampant zombie outbreak, and even the unaware passengers on the train are plunged into a hell of panic and despair due to the unexpected visitors. At the onset of the chaos, an infected person rushes into the train carriage, quickly transforming into a zombie and launching a bloody massacre on the healthy passengers in sight. It isn't long before the zombies increase exponentially. Stone Yu is forced to struggle for survival with the other remaining passengers in the cramped space.The long journey to Busan is fraught with danger, and in these trying times, the humanity of each survivor is put to the ultimate test...
