A fairy tale film from East Germany in the 1950s. Little Mook lost his father at a young age and was driven out of his home by greedy relatives. He wandered into the desert, hoping to find a merchant who sells good luck. Among the dunes, he accidentally discovers a small house, inhabited by an evil woman and her many cats. She wants Little Mook to be her servant, but he steals a pair of magical shoes that allow him to run faster than anyone in the country, and manages to escape. From then on, he faces a series of challenges... Adapted from the fairy tale by Wilhelm Hauff.
