A underground poker casino controlled by the mob is suddenly robbed by three tough bandits. The casino boss, feeling threatened, is determined to uncover who is behind the scenes. They enlist the help of a capable operative, Jackie Cogan (played by Brad Pitt), to investigate and restore order. As a seasoned bounty hunter, Jackie is cold and keeps his cards close to his chest. What was initially an obvious money heist plan designed by three inexperienced punks quickly spirals into chaos with random incidents such as the casino manager Micky (played by Ray Liotta) being beaten for no reason and the old drunk Mickey (played by James Gandolfini) being killed without justification. Jackie begins to unravel the situation and launches his in-depth investigation. However, this marks the beginning of a bloody showdown, as a gentle but deadly massacre between gangs is about to explode. This film is adapted from the 1974 novel 'Cogan's Trade' by George V. Higgins. It is the first feature film co-directed by Brad Pitt and director Andrew Dominik since 'The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford', and it was a contender for the Palme d'Or at the 65th Cannes Film Festival in 2012.
