In the winter of 1982, a helicopter from a Norwegian research team suddenly broke the tranquility of the Antarctic continent, frantically chasing a sled dog, and ultimately crashed near an American research camp. The American team had heard rumors of a recent drastic reduction in personnel among the Norwegians, so pilot Mac (played by Kurt Russell) and his team headed to the Norwegian camp, only to find a scene of destruction littered with strange corpses and evidence suggesting the Norwegians had encountered some life form in a frozen state. Doctor Blair (played by Wilford Brimley) studied the mutations of the corpses but could not determine the cause. That night, the dogs in the kennel were attacked and began to mutate, as an unknown creature threatened the lives of the research team in this desolate Antarctic wilderness... This film is a remake of 'The Thing From Another World' directed by Howard Hawks in 1951.
