John's father, Frank (played by Dennis Quaid), died in a firefighting incident 30 years ago. One day, while going through his father's belongings, John (played by James Caviezel) discovers an old radio that his father used 30 years ago. As he casually flips through the frequencies, he unexpectedly connects with a young man named Frank, who turns out to be his father from 30 years ago. After a night of long conversations, John is convinced that there has been a disruption in time, and he helps his father avoid the disaster that occurred 30 years ago. When he wakes up, he is surprised to see his aging father in a picture frame, and he knows he has succeeded. However, to his shock, history has been completely rewritten. While John saved his father, his mother ends up dying in a serial killer case from many years ago. When John contacts his father through the radio again, intending to have him prevent his mother's murder, his father unexpectedly becomes the main suspect!
