Young scientist Seth (played by Jeff Goldblum) has just invented an "electric teleporter" that can disassemble objects and automatically reassemble them after transport. Excited, Seth decides to personally experience the teleporter, so he steps into the teleportation pod. Unfortunately, a fly flies into the pod at the same time, and as the machine reassembles the disassembled molecules of Seth, it mistakenly incorporates the fly's molecules into his body. Seth begins to transform into a being that possesses half fly genes.Initially, Seth's body becomes strong and full of energy, much like Spider-Man, and his girlfriend Veronica (played by Geena Davis) finds it hard to believe his wild claims.
