In the early years of the Republic of China, the remote northern town of Gulou Town had been troubled for twenty years by a mysterious disease called 'Skeleton Syndrome.' Those afflicted exhibited strange behaviors and suffered from hallucinations, alongside a dislike for food and a craving for water, leading to skeletal figures who looked emaciated and lacked spirit. As a result, Gulou Town earned the humorous nickname 'Bone Town' from the surrounding villagers. In recent years, the town faced further troubles; five years ago, a mysterious beast known as the 'Black Bear' appeared in the nearby hazelnut forest, frequently intruding into the town and harassing the residents, worsening the plight of Bone Town. In Bone Town, a young girl named Sangeng had been learning hunting skills from her master, Sun Laohai, since childhood, honing her exceptional archery. However, five years ago, when the Black Bear suddenly emerged, Sun Laohai was killed while attempting to hunt it. This prompted Sangeng to vow to dedicate her life to hunting the Black Bear, often wandering through the hazelnut forest in search of its traces. One night, a traveling young doctor named Bai Xiaobai passed through the hazelnut forest outside Bone Town and was suddenly attacked by the Black Bear. Fortunately, Sangeng appeared just in time to save his life. To her surprise, she discovered that the Black Bear was somehow afraid of the medicines in Bai Xiaobai's medical kit.
