Once upon a time, the evil King Piccolo and his minion gorilla came to Earth from a distant galaxy, committing heinous acts and terrorizing the people, leaving them constantly haunted by the shadow of death. A group of skilled martial artists developed the Mafuba technique to seal away King Piccolo, restoring light to the world. In contemporary America, a seemingly weak young man named Goku (played by Justin Chatwin) has been learning martial arts from his grandfather Gohan (played by Randall Duk Kim) since childhood, but his grandfather forbids him from using his skills for fighting. As a result, Goku suffers bullying and mockery at school. One day, unexpectedly, King Piccolo (played by James Marsters) is revived, leading to Gohan's death.
