Once a popular action star known for his zombie films, Qian Xiaohau (played by Qian Xiaohau) fell to rock bottom in his career and life. He moved into a rundown old apartment with his few belongings. Guided by the security guard Uncle Yan (played by Lu Haipeng), he entered the infamous haunted unit 2442. Xiaohau tried to hang himself but, at the brink of death, was tormented by vengeful spirits until he was saved by the reclusive Taoist priest Ayou (played by Chen You). Xiaohau became curious about a white-haired boy named Xiaobai and a woman named Yang Feng (played by Hui Yinghong), who often lurked at the door of unit 2442 to eat ritual offerings. Through Uncle Yan, he learned of a bloody incident that happened years ago. Uncle Dong (played by Wu Yaohan) fell to his death, and his wife, Aunt Mei (played by Bao Qijing), sought the help of the evil sorcerer Ajiu (played by Zhong Fa) to resurrect him, leading to an irreversible tragedy.
